We built isvisible.ai, a free tool that checks whether AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI can actually access your website.
Why we built it
AI assistants are becoming the new front door to the web. People increasingly ask ChatGPT or Claude to find, summarize, and recommend things instead of searching Google directly. Most website owners have no idea whether these AI crawlers can even see their content - robots.txt rules written years ago for classic search engines often silently block the newer AI crawlers too, and few teams have looked at llms.txt, the newer file built specifically for AI access.
We wanted a fast, free way to answer one question: is your website visible to AI?
How it works
Enter your URL, and isvisible.ai runs three steps:
- Reads robots.txt and llms.txt - the two files that actually control whether AI crawlers can access your site.
- Sends a live request to your homepage using each crawler's real user agent, so a robots.txt block and a server-level block show up as two different, clearly labeled results.
- Checks 13 AI crawlers across three categories: search crawlers that power AI-assisted results (Googlebot, Bingbot), crawlers that collect content to train models (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, CCBot, Bytespider, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, meta-externalagent), and crawlers that fetch pages live when someone asks an AI assistant a question (ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot).
You get a 0-100 score with a grade, and an agent-by-agent access map, so you know exactly which platforms can and can't see your content - no signup, no email, results in seconds.
