August Update: Are You Invisible to ChatGPT?

A free tool that checks if AI crawlers can see your site. Plus OpenAI Ads tracking, a 90s throwback game, and $300 for every friend you refer.

Hey there,

It's Baris here. This month: OpenAI Ads tracking, isvisible.ai, referrals, and a 90s game.

Measuring OpenAI Ads conversions server-side

Measuring OpenAI Ads conversions server-side

Measure OpenAI Ads conversions, server-side. We added OpenAI Ads to Hardal Destinations: conversion events sent straight to OpenAI's server-side conversion API, with identity handling, validation, and deduplication built in. We also started running ChatGPT Ads ourselves. Since Hardal is an open startup, we'll publish the performance numbers on my LinkedIn.

The isvisible.ai AI visibility score

The isvisible.ai AI visibility score

Launched isvisible.ai. Turns out a lot of sites block AI crawlers without ever knowing it, then wonder why ChatGPT and Claude never mention them. Of the 2,381 sites that have run the scan so far, only 31% scored an A. Paste your URL, get your score in seconds. Free, no signup. There's already a Chrome extension, with page-depth analysis and more categories on the way. Try it on your own site and let me know what you find.

The Hardal referral programme

The Hardal referral programme

Referral program. Plenty of you were already telling friends about us. Now it pays. Refer a company, and you both get $300. You'll find your link on the left side of the dashboard.

The Hardal 90s throwback page

The Hardal 90s throwback page

The 90s page. We also launched a throwback page straight out of the 90s, complete with a game. Click the track buttons to 'track' your conversions and see how high you can score. Beat the best score and shout us out on LinkedIn.

Let's hang out

Accurate Data Club: Back to School Tardeo. September 1, Barcelona: our regular data community meetup, back-to-school themed this time, at La Font del Gat.

Coffee. Run. Repeat. September 2, Barcelona: an early morning coffee and run meetup at SIP Coffee Roasters. Come for the run, stay for the coffee.

Hardal x Kochava: Dinner in Istanbul. September 11: a small, invite-only dinner with Kochava for C-level marketers and operators.

Coming up

A new podcast is coming. I recorded the first episode already: AI's impact on marketing and company documentation, plus working at Amazon and Meta versus startups, with a special guest. Beyza is doing her magic to remove my “iiiihmms” from it, so follow me on LinkedIn to catch it the moment it's out.

A ChatGPT Ads webinar, details soon. Lamis and Emir are putting one together on ChatGPT Ads as a new channel. Nothing's locked in yet, but follow Lamis and Emir on LinkedIn for updates.

Team Picks

For some reason, Teoman loves this section.

🍓 Lamis read Why are young people eating so much jam?: a reminder that people buy stories and identity as much as products, and brands can turn everyday items into cultural moments.

👗 Beyza's favorite spot in Tilburg is Studio Bouks: great coffee, a strong concept, and even the clothing on the racks is secondhand and for sale.

✉️ Beyza Z. couldn't put down The Correspondent by Virginia Evans: a quiet, heartfelt story about aging, forgiveness, and human connection, with characters that stayed with her.

🛠️ Emir used Codex to get his teammates' e-signature apps working on macOS, then shared the fix with them.

🕷️ Teoman watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day: “literal chills,” and the first Tom Holland Spider-Man movie he's really loved.

☕ Alp is working through discovery packs from The Barn, hunting for replacements for his favorite Copenhagen coffees.

🎸 I've had the Rolling Stones' new album, Foreign Tongues, on repeat. Releasing an album at 82 is wild, might be one of their best.

That's it for this month. See you next month!
